As the gambling industry finds ever-new ways to integrate marketing and gambling features into digital platforms, policymakers and academics are asking what the increasing visibility and accessibility of sports-related gambling promotion and simulated gambling might mean for children, adolescents and young adults, and how best to respond.
In this briefing, we bring together youth-related information about gambling from Australian academic research, scholarly international articles and a variety of other reports. While the regulation of gambling in Australia is largely a matter for the states and territories, we situate most of our discussion at the national level.
